I was brought up in a Jewish family in the 1950’s-60’s when everyone was still in shock over the atrocities committed during the holocaust. The infant state of Israel was propped up to be the joyous final homecoming for our people to finally live in peace and prosperity. And of course we were always concerned about how our brethren were endangered by the evil Arabs who surrounded them and wished only to once again wipe them out. How ignorant we all were.
